Did you know Anxiety and Gratitude cannot scientifically co-exist?
Think about it. When our minds are wrapped around our worries and anxieties, there is only that inward focus. While, switching the mind to thoughts of gratitude, imagine! Move over, anxiety! These two emotions cannot exist together. One has to go!
Is it harder to place gratefulness over anxiety? I think so.
I struggle with anxiety – am I the only one? I have struggled with it pretty much all my life. And then….I go to China. My anxiety increased ten-fold (or more!). There were many, many challenges along the way. I fretted, worried and feared about so many things. Learning to rely on the Spirit of God was tested at a whole new level. My anxieties caused sleepless nights and irritability, to say the least.
But, I am blessed (my first point of gratefulness!) to be married to a dear husband who can take my hand, and heart, and show me how to pray with a heart towards gratefulness. To pray through those anxious times with a changed mind.
This did not always come easy. Nor, does it come easy now that I am home. I do have to choose towards a grateful mind.
